Carombola 9-Ball Tournament Showcase

task Design an 11” x 17” poster as part of a class branding assignment for Carombola, a fictitious annual 9-ball championship and showcase of custom crafted billiard tables.

challenge The design's concept was to demonstrate detailed, hand-crafted contemporary design, as well as a respect for the legacy — and a thorough knowledge — of the materials and nuances of the game.

solution Following overall brand concept, the logotype was incorporated into an abstracted pool table suggested by strong diagonal shapes and simplified billiard balls. Vibrant warm colors were chosen to convey excitement around the event, while directional dashed line and arrow pulls the knowledgeable viewer in closer to see that the composition of the balls are correctly positioned for a carom shot.
